Abstract
400,422. Games apparatus. GRIMSEY, A., Moulsham, Bourne Road, Colchester, Essex. Oct. 31, 1932, No. 30595. [Class 132 (ii).] A ball-retaining device is pivotally mounted so that, if a ball does not strike it squarely, the whole device rotates about the pivot and afterwards returns to its normal position. As shown in Fig. 1, the trap. is formed by a cloth skirt f supported from a ring a attached to an arm b pivoted on a stake e driven into the ground. The pivotal axis is inclined to cause the trap to swing back to its normal position after being deflected by a ball. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the trap comprises hanging wires 6 pivoted to a ring 10 having flanges 8a, 9a which prevent the wires moving too far outwards or inwards. Chains may be used in place of wires and the device may be returned to its normal position by springs.
