Abstract

399,305. Cord-strainers. GENTLE, G. W., 32, North View Road, Hornsey, London. Aug. 24, 1932, No. 23739. [Class 45.] A strainer for ropes and cords consists of a disc b which is rotatable on a mounting plate a having a rack-and-pawl connection therewith to allow rotation in one direction only, and carries a bolt c and a second disc e, means being provided for pressing the discs together to grip a rope between them. The discs may be pressed together by a nut d having an operating arm d<1>, or by a cam mounted in the end of the bolt. The nut may have a cap d<2> and its complete removal may be prevented by a pin f ; or the nut may have an annular flange which enters a corresponding recess in a head on the bolt.
