Abstract

398,577. Weaving multi-layered fabrics. WALLIN, E. H., 33, Tingsgatan, Arvika, Sweden. April 22, 1932, No. 11670. [Class 142 (iv).] In making multi-layered fabrics, several layers of cloth of an animal material are woven together, during the weaving thereof, with threads of vegetable fibre which are carbonized before, during or after the dressing of the fabric. Fig. 1 shows two fabrics a, b woven together with vegetable threads c which prevent any gliding of the layers a, b during the weaving ; three or more layers may be woven together with vegetable threads c which may be either warp or weft threads and the layers may be woven together in pairs by the vegetable threads each double layer being separated from the other or others and dressed before the layers are separated by carbonizing the thread c. The fabrics may be woven folded once or several times, Fig. 6, showing four layers a, b woven as two fabrics folded at one warp edge, the vegetable weft threads c binding the layers together in pairs ; all the layers may be connected together by the threads c and the layers may be woven as a fabric folded zig-zag fashion along the warp edges and connected together during the weaving by vegetable weft threads. The fabrics may be woven in tubular form and may be folded once or several times, Fig. 12, showing a tubular fabric a woven in zig-zag fashion and with vegetable weft threads c, c<1>, c<2>; the vegetable threads may be warp threads. A double-layered fabric connected together during the weaving by threads of vegetable fibre may be used to form a sleeping bag, Fig. 13, the layers a, b of the fabric being also connected along three edges 13, 14, 15 by animal threads before the vegetable threads c are carbonized ; the outer sides of the fabric may be napped before carbonization and the bag after carbonization, is turned inside out and any finishing operations performed.
