[Class 29.] Railway and other refrigerator vehicles cooled by evaporating solid refrigerants such as carbon dioxide are provided with means for admitting a desired amount of the gas to the storage space a, under the control of a device sensitive to the gas content of the storage space. Thus the goods may be cooled directly by the gas, or indirectly by circulating the gas through jacket spaces or pockets d in the walls, or by both methods combined. A gas percentage indicator g mounted in the storage space controls electric or other means f for opening a valve e admitting the gas from the space b containing the solid refrigerant. The control means may be adjusted to suit different kinds of goods stored, and may also control a fan for forced circulation of the gas through the jackets or pockets.
