395,984. Photographic enlarging- apparatus. PIRMOV, P. S., 28, Boylston Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.- (Assignee of Rodman, J. ; 5, River Street, Dorchester, Boston, U.S.A.) Feb. 17, 1933, No. 4964. Convention date, Nov. 3, 1932. [Class 98 (i).] A photographic printing and enlarging apparatus comprises a transparent flat support against which a negative may be placed and illuminated, and a hood carrying an enlarg. ing lens normally out of engagement with the support but adapted to be moved thereover to confine light passing through the negative and lens so that an image of the negative may be projected on to sensitized paper. As shown, a work table 11 supported on posts 10 has an opening 12 above which is a transparent support 15 carrying a film 18 and a mask. Below the opening 12 is a box 13 carrying a lamp 14, which may be provided with condenser lenses, and whose current supply from the source 42 is taken through a resistance 43 when the treadle 38 is up, the resistance being cut out on depression of the treadle. A clamp plate 32 hinged at 33 is connected by a link 34 and bell-crank lever 35 to a rod 36 connected to the treadle 38. A hood 27 carrying an enlarging lens 29 is hinged at 30 and connected by a similar link and bell-crank lever to the rod 36. Depression of the treadle 38 simultaneously effects brightening of the lamp 14, engagement of the hood 27 over the film 18, and clamping of the sensitized paper 31 against the window 25 by the plate 32. The connection of the upper bell-crank lever 35 to the rod 36 is by collars 37 which are adjustable to permit of vertical adjustment of the table 21 carrying the sensitized paper.
