Abstract
395,397. Cages &c. for animals. MATTHEWS, H. E., 10, Hensman's Hill, Clifton, Bristol, and WEECHES, Ltd., Tickenham Road, Clevedon, Somerset. Jan. 13, 1932, No. 1033. [Class 5 (ii).] In a box for housing and transporting animals of the type comprising a container 1 and a lid 2 hinged together by a member 3 which allows the box to be converted into a stand by reversing the two parts as shown so that the bottom of the container 1 is in contact with the top of the lid 2, apertures, such as 5, closed by hinged, sliding, &c., doors and air vents are provided in the container or lid or in both. The box is of wood, wickerwork, &c., and the member 3 comprises a rectangular frame of wire, preferably circular in cross section, connected by staples to both elements of the box, or it may comprise a rectangular sheet of wood or metal. The air vents may be covered by gauze &c., and the hinged door to the aperture 5 can be fastened to the lid by a catch or lock. The two elements of the box can be secured in the closed or open positions by means of clips or locks. Carrying-handles secured to the top of the lid &c. are provided, and resilient feet of rubber &c. are provided on the bottom of the box. According to the Provisional Specification, the member 3 comprises a series of connecting members, and an aperture may be formed partly in the container and partly in the lid.
