[Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii).] In a spring door-closing device of the type comprising an arm mounted by a spring hinge on the door post and acting on the door, the spring hinge is formed of two separate housing parts, each containing a spring, mounted on a single pivot pin and mechanically engaging together, one of the housing parts being provided with openings for engagement by the pressure arm or an adjusting key. The pivot bracket and the housing parts may be made of synthetic resin or similar mouldable material. In the construction shown, the attachment bracket 10 is moulded with two lugs 12 which receive a pin 13 screwed into one of them; the two housing parts 17, 18 are also moulded, with their outer ends open and their abutting ends closed, and are mounted on the pin 13. A metal fitting 24, having cross channels 22, is let into the top of the lower housing part 18, and the upper housing part 17 is formed with shallow ridges to engage the channels 22 ; these ridges do not fill the whole depth of the channels, but leave apertures for the insertion of an adjusting key or the end of the pressure arm 30. Each housing part contains a spring 16, one end of which enters a hole 28 in the metal member 24 while the other engages a slot in the hinge lug 12. The pressure arm 30, which carries a roller 36 for engagement with the door, is formed of sheet metal, and its end 31 is shaped to enter one of the channels in the member 24. The arm 30 is provided with a spring clip 37, or other means to carry the adjusting key 29.
