394,980. Cooking-apparatus. BOITEL, A. F., 168, Kaiserallee, Wilmersdorf, Berlin. Jan. 4, 1932, No. 216. [Class 28 (i).] A portable cooking-vessel is provided with a removable cover which embodies in its structure a ray-emitting device and a colour filter or filters to control the passage of the rays to the food being cooked. As shown in Fig. 1, a double-walled vessel 1 is provided with a cover 7 having a pocket which accommodates a lamp 8 separated from the cooking- space by a changeable glass filter 9 which may be of any desired colour. The base 4 may be perforate, or imperforate or made from woven or pressed heat-resisting material. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the cover is jacketed and is heated by gases passing into the cover through ports 11 and escaping through vents 11a. The coloured filter may be the vitreous lamp bulb 8, or the envelode 12. In Fig. 5, a nested arrangement of covers 7, lamps, and substantially cylindrical supports 1 .. 1c for cooking vessels 3 .. 3d, is shown. In use, one cover 7, one support and one cooking-vessel are used, the cover having a central aperture 7a to accommodate a ray and filter unit. If coloured lamp bulbs are used as filters, a multi-contact switch may be used for switching-on the required lamp. The bottom 4b of the device is of wire woven mesh. In modifications, pivotally arranged and externally controlled filters of different colours are used, a heating-element may be incorporated in the cover to brown meat &c., and a ray-dispersing lens may be employed as a filter.
