Abstract

A cooker comprises a housing 10 with an opening to receive a removable container 24 which is transparent to infra-red radiation. One or more infra- red tubes 28 are arranged in the housing around the container, with a reflector 20 to direct radiation towards the container. Such a cooker can replace an oven or hotplate. The transparent container does not become excessively heated, and can be removed for cleaning. <IMAGE>
