394,594. Tip-up seats. MITCHELL, RUSSELL, & CO., Ltd. and MITCHELL, J., Chattan Foundry, Bonnybridge, Stirling- shire. Dec. 28, 1932, No. 36638. [Class 52 (ii).] A tip-up seat, supported when in use by stops 13, carries pivots 9a engaging stationary downwardly and forwardly extending slots or guides 10, so that, as the seat moves to its tipped-up position, the pivots slide from the top to the bottom of the slots. When the vertical line from the centre of gravity of the seat passes between the pivots 9a and the buffers 5a, the seat will tip up automatically, its motion commencing about the stop 13. If, however, the centre of gravity of the seat is in front of the stop 13, an initial lifting of the front of the seat will be necessary, the tipping action then continuing automatically.
