Abstract
426,465. Bed-settees. GRANT, A., GRANT, E., and BURWELL, L. B., 29, Canal Road, Shoreditch, London. July 28, 1934, No. 22081. [Class 52 (ii)] In a convertible chair-bed of the kind comprising a sliding seat portion 7 to the rear of which is hinged a back consisting of two parts 10, 11 hinged together at the top, the rear part 11 is pivoted to the sides of the chair frame, intermediately of its length so that when in the bed position, the parts of the back are inclined upwardly in relation to the seat, with the rear part 11 of the back projecting rearwardly. The pivotal connection between the rear part of the back and the seat frame may be so arranged as to permit various positions and inclinations, by providing, for example metal plates 12, Fig. 4, with slots 13 secured to the sides of the frame, into which the pivots 14 of the rear parts of the back are received, or by providing several slots at different levels in a single plate.
