Abstract
394,012. Centrifugal pumps. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A. and DOWSON, R., Heaton Works, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Dec. 19, 1931, No. 35221. [Class 110 (i).] Impeller blades comprise members 6, 7 which are subject to tensional and compressional stresses respectively. These forces tend to neutralize one another and prevent the endplates 2 being forced apart. The members 6, 7 may be of catenary shape and formed integral with one another. They are secured to the endplates by welding them to a plate 9 which is riveted to the endplates 2 by a single or double line of rivets. A double line of welding 8, Fig. 11, may be used. When members 6, 7 are separate members, one or both ends are riveted to the endplates directly. Alternatively they may be welded to a plate 9, Fig. 16. The blade ends are closed either by cutting a V in the members and closing the ends or by a metal plug with a hemispherical end.
