393,931. Gauge glasses. SCH€FFER & BUDENBERG GES., Buckan, Magdeburg, Germany. Sept. 5, 1931, No. 24969. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1930. [Class 123 (i).] A water gauge of the flat transparent plate type comprises a body part 5 having a water channel 6 closed by a glass strip 9. The glass is retained by hinged side wings 12 pivoted in a member 10 and formed with bulbous ends 13 to engage the glass. The parts are tightened by means of screws 14. Asbestos packing is provided on each side of the glass strip 9. The outward movement of the wings 12 may be limited by pins 18, and the body may.be provided with a stop plate 19 on which the wings rest. Stops 20 prevent opening of the wings after slackening of the screws 14, until the member 10 is raised sufficiently to enable the bottom edges of the wings to clear the stops.
