[Class 140.] Compound glass is made by fixing a sheet of transparent material such as celluloid to each of two sheets of glass by means of a solvent such as a mixture of acetone and amyl acetate and uniting the transparent sheets by means of a thin layer of a transparent liquid, viscous or solid substance, for example mineral and vegetable oils, water, glycerine, colophony colophony mixed with'linseed oil or gelatine dissolved in water or glycerine. Solid or viscous substances are applied molten. In the case of permanently liquid materials the edges of the compound glass are sealed.
