Abstract
391,996. Air supply to travelling grates. DUNCAN, W. M., 442, East 12th Street, Alton, Illinois, U.S.A. June 6, 1932, No. 15962. Convention date, Feb. 6. [Class 51 (i).] Forced-draught apparatus for a travelling grate 1 comprises a blower 13 which delivers into a closed chamber 14 at the outer end of the grate, the air passing from this chamber to the space 7 below the fuel bed through the gaps 15 created between the links of the grate as they travel round the front sprocket 3. A slide 16 is arranged in the outlet of the blower 13 and the amount of air passing to different portions of the grate is regulated by independently adjustable damper plates 17. To prevent escape of air rearwardly from the space 7, there are provided a partition 8<1> and a double plate sealing device 8 for the return run of the grate. Riddlings which fall through the grate are collected in a hopper 12 fitted with a double slide discharge device 18.
