[Class 44.] In sliding-clasp fastenings having completely separable stringers 1, 2 with fastener elements 5, 6, a slider 7 and an end-stop 11 consisting of a pin 12 and a cooperating socket 17 attached to the stringers 1, 2 respectively, the socket 17 is formed from a blank 17a, Fig. 8, so as to present spaced side walls 21, 22, Fig. 12, with a fold 25 therebetween providing two-ply jaws 26, 27 for gripping the edge of the stringer 2. The walls 21, 22 have flanges 23, 24 providing a. pocket 28 for reception of the pin 12. A tab 20 on the blank is bent to close the bottom of the socket 17. The blank is also formed with a tab 18 having an aperture 30a and a notch 19 which, when folded, provide a tooth 30b and a recess 30c, Fig. 13. The pin 12 is also formed from a folded blank with side walls gripping the stringer 1 and a tab bent to close the bottom and is provided with a cam projection 14a. The pin and socket are provided with a snap fastening consisting of a projection 14 and a depression 30. In operation, the slider 7 is moved to release the fastener elements and finally moves on to the upper part of the socket, coming to rest against a transverse ledge provided by the upper edges 29 of the side walls 22, 23. The pin 12 and stringer 1 may then be removed through the slider. On reintroduction of the pin 12, the projection 14a engages the tooth 30b, preventing fouling of the lowermost fastener elements, the projection 14a finally resting in the recess 30c, and the lowermost element 5a in the space provided by the notch 19. The stringers may be stiffened by a coating or by doubling back the material and securing by lateral staples 8 and longitudinal seams 9 of stitching, Fig. 1. Further seams 10 may secure the stringers to garment portions G, G<1>. The edges of the pin and socket and the elements 5, 6 are so placed in alignment that an attaching seam 10 placed close to the elements 5, 6 may extend uninterruptedly past the end stop 11 to the end of the stringers.
