[Class 20 (iii).] Relates to corner joints for the metal frameworks of shop fronts, showcases, and the like. According to the invention, the opposed ends of two hollow or tubular frame members disposed in the same plane are interlockingly engaged with transverse slots, gaps, apertures, or recesses in a third frame member disposed in a different plane, the said opposed ends meeting in front of the third member. According to one construction, the two horizontal sill members 1, Figs. 1 and 2, of a shop front are interlockingly engaged with a vertical member 2. Each sill is formed with a raised hollow rib 3 which forms a shoulder for the glazing, and with an internal rib 4 which constitutes an abutment for the lower end of the member 2. The member 2 is of substantially triangular form and has at each of two corners a square portion 7. A horizontal slot 6 terminating in vertical extensions 6a extends completely across two sides of the member 2 and is adapted to receive the horizontal portions of the ribs 3. In assembling, the members 1 are slidden horizontally into the slot 6 until they meet, as shown, in front of the member 2 in which position they are secured by screws passing through the ribs 3 and corners 7. Fig. 9 shows an arrangement for interconnect- - ing two transomes 11 with the vertical member 2. The transomes are substantially of T- section and are adapted to be received within a transverse gap 13 in the member 2. This gap extends completely across two sides of the member 2 and is of a depth equal to that of the heads 12 of the transomes. The frame members are secured in position by screws passing through the rear sides 7a of the corners 7 and into the upstanding and downwardly depending limbs of the head 12. In both constructions shown, the horizontal frame members are gapped (as at 9 and 14) at their meeting ends in accordance with the contour of the member 2 and are suitably mitred so that they both meet in front of and behind this member.
