Abstract

390,486. Sets of resistances. SOC. FRANCAISE RADIO-ELECTRIQUE, 79, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. July 1, 1931, No. 19018. Convention date, July 3, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 37.] A potentiometric resistance, particularly for use as a volume control for the output of audiofrequency amplifiers, is so arranged that the resistance between the output terminals is the same for all positions of the potentiometer tapping. As shown, the potentiometric resistance is connected between input terminals A, B and is divided into equal steps each of resistance r. Tappings are taken to output terminals D1 .. Dn, a resistance being included between each terminal D1 .. Dn and the corresponding tapping point X1 . . Xn of such a value that the resistance between the output terminals CD1, CD2, &c. is constant. If a high resistance can be connected in series with the audiofrequency source between the terminals A, B, the values of the resistances connected to the tapping points may be r, 2r, 3r, &c., i.e. the resistance between the output terminal D1 .. Dn and the corresponding tapping point X1 .. Xn is equal to that between the tapping point and the input terminal A. The resistance of the output circuit may differ from that between the terminals A, B. The resistance between the terminals A, B may be provided with a sliding contact to vary the tapping point, the resistance between this point and the output terminal being simultaneously varied.
