Abstract

In a process for uniting wood, for example in making plywood or in veneering, liquid adhesive is applied to the pieces of wood, which are then immediately artificially dried, for example by passage through heated chambers, and united by hot pressing. Suitable adhesives are casein, blood albumen and hide or bone glue containing acids such as acetic, formic and nitric acids, and capable of remaining liquid when cold. Preferably easily liquefiable casein adhesives comprising hide glue, bone glue, sugar or syrup, or made with alkali silicate in place of caustic soda or lime, are used.
