Abstract
389,743. Vacuum cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd., Perivale, Greenford, Middlesex.- (Hoover Co. ; North Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Sept. 12, 1932, No. 25348. [Class 8 (i).] A rotary brush for use in suction cleaners comprises a core 2 of wood or other light inexpensive material provided with a central recess 3 serving as a pulley and longitudinal grooves 5 for the brushes which unite at the ends of the roller and are spaced 180‹ apart centrally. Semi-cylindrical pressed plates 8 sheathe the core and are provided with extruded beater elements 9 following the curve of the brushes and centrally with annular extrusions 13 which define the walls of the pulley and serve as carpet-spacing elements. The sheaths 8 are secured in position by pressing their edges into the grooves 5 and at the outer edges by end-caps 14. The beater elements may be formed on both sides of the brush-grooves 5 and the forward fan of the ribs or beaters may be flatter than the abrupt face adjacent to the brush.
