[Class 125 (ii).] A machine for filling intermittently-moving bottles &c. comprises a cistern fed under pressure from a tank and divided into two compartments, each compartment being provided with charging inlets and one of the compartments having one or more large outlet charging spouts for preliminary filling purposes and being fed directly by the tank without the intervention of a feed control device, such that the liquid can reach the bottles with a maximum rate of flow, while the other compartment is provided with one or more charging outlets acting siphonically and is provided with a liquid inlet controlled, for instance, by a float to ensure the constancy of the liquid level in the compartment. As shown, bottles are fed on an intermittently-moving conveyer 13, which may have a linear or 'circular motion. beneath a cistern 1 divided into compartments a, b. From the compartment a, which is fed through a pipe 5, lead three pipes 6 terminating in hoods 7 and nozzle-sleeves 16. From the compartment b, which is fed through a pipe 9, the feed being controlled by a float valve 18, leads a siphon-tube 20, also terminating in a hood and nozzle-sleeve. The cistern 1 is reciprocated vertically by a rotary cam 3 which engages a roller 4 on the cistern, the filling nozzles being lowered on to the bottle mouths. Each bottle is given approximately one-third of its charge by each of the nozzles 6 and the filling is completed by the siphon nozzle 20.
