Abstract

1,058,769. Mixing apparatus. J. R. LAGE. Sept. 10, 1963 [Nov. 6, 1962], No. 35744/63. Heading B1C. Mixing apparatus comprises a container 1 from which material is withdrawn by a pump 2 and returned under pressure in a jet through nozzle 4, the inlet and outlet being arranged to give a circulation in the form of a helix with its axis made arcuate. Flow of material from containers 8a-8c is controlled by meters 9a- 9c and valves 10 a-10c, and that from the container 1 by valves 6a-6c. The discharge of mixed material through pipe 9 is controlled by a valve 16. A heat exchanger 17 may be provided and an impact wall or opposed nozzle may be fixed below nozzle 4. In a first modification (Fig. 7 not shown) the inlet conduit has several vertically spaced nozzles and the intake of a flexible outlet conduit is supported by a float. In a second (Fig. 9 not shown) the container is divided into two by a slit or perforated pipe or vertical wall, the materials being withdrawn downwardly. In Fig. 6 (not shown) a gas supply conduit is connected to the nozzle 4 to effect pre-mixing of gas and returning material.
