Abstract

389,353. Golf-club shafts. AMERICAN FORK & HOE CO., Keith Building, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. July 19, 1932, No. 20420. Convention date, April 15. [Class 132 (ii).] In a golf-club shaft of the kind comprising a tapered metal tube formed with a plurality of spaced longitudinal grooves 17, the grooves increase in depth from the handle portion, Fig. 4, to the head end, Fig. 7, in order that the torsional yield of the shaft may increase in the direction of the head end. The invention is preferably applied to a stepped shaft of the kind described in Specification 285,051, [Class 132 (ii), Games], and the grooves are preferably formed in an intermediate portion of the shaft between the handle and head ends, which are left plain.
