[Class 141.] In a machine for fastening papers together, in which toothed crimping-members are mounted on parallel spindles and acted upon by pressure, the ends of the shaft of the top member c have flat faces or are squared and several flat springs b<2> which are slotted at the middle to clear the top member, bear against the flat faces of the shaft with a pressure which can be regulated. The lower member is driven through reduction gearing by a motor k. The pressure of the flat springs b<2> on the shaft of the top member may be regulated by means of headed screws a, a<1>. A supporting-table S is tiltable about a hinge s<1>, and is provided with an outer rightangled abutment rail h<1>, v which may be secured in position by screws o adapted to slide along slots h<2> in the table. A further abutment rail for regulating the distance of the fastening line from the ends of the papers is channel-shaped in part or all of its length and adapted to be retracted to abut distancing-screws d<1> by means of bolts n. The table S rests on a member T which is pivoted at each side of the machine at R. A rod f<1> secured to the underside of the table S passes through slots f<2> in the member T and is provided with two nuts f<3>. The table S may be tilted about the hinge s<1> and secured in a new position by slackening and subsequently tightening the nuts f<3>. The machine may be used for sealing full bags, in which case the table must be in an inclined position.
