Abstract

Chrysotile asbestos fibres for paper-making, asbestos-cement, &c., are prepared by wetting the raw material for a sufficient time to cause it to swell and treating it whilst wet in a grinding, crushing, or breaking machine. The material may be immersed in or sprayed with water, or subjected to water jets as it passes on an endless conveyer to the crushing machine &c. Water &c. may also be sprayed on the material in the machine.ALSO:The raw material in the preparation of chrysotile asbestos fibres is wetted for a sufficient time to cause it to swell prior to wet treatment in a grinding, crushing, or breaking machine. The material may be immersed in or sprayed with water or subjected to water jets as it passes on an endless conveyer to the crushing machine &c., water may also be sprayed on the material in the machine.
