Abstract
388,579. Gloves; sewing machines. RICHTER AKT.-GES., J., Limbach, Saxony, Germany. March 11, 1932, No. 7377. Convention date, March 11, 1931. [Classes 112 and 141.] Gloves, more especially of fabric, are made by connecting together the edges of a blank 1, Fig. 1, tapering finger gussets 6, 7, 8, Fig. 2, and a thumb gusset 5, Fig. 1b, all stamped out accurately to shape and laid flat together with their edges coinciding so that no trimming is required during or after sewing. A fine threethread oversewn seam, as described in Specification 355,072, is employed to unite the parts, and is formed in a modified machine of the known kind employing a reciprocating eyed needle 9, Fig. 6a, and a pair of oscillating thread-carrying hooked loopers, which form interlocking loops. The needle plate 14, Figs. 6a, 6b, the work guide 16, the thread guiding and seamforming members, the presserfoot 15 and feed-dog 13 are placed as closely as possible to the free edge of the needle plate, the toothed feed-dog 13 being bevelled at 13a, 13b to enable one of the loopers to work close to it. The needle plate 14 is shown in Fig. 6b, and is formed with a thin projection 14a which allows the threads forming the seam to slide past in the required form. The presser-foot 15 is bevelled at the front and rear at 15a, 15b and also at 15c at one side, to enable the work to be easily turned over at the curved portions without lifting the presser plate. The member 16 is adjustably connected to the machine frame and, in addition to guiding the work, supports the projection 14a of the needle plate and acts as a finger rest and guard during sewing.
