[Class 106 (iv).] A device for recording the variations of a variable factor, the working or inoperative periods of machines, &c. is combined in a single apparatus with a recording device or devices adjustable manually on one or other of a plurality of sections of the recordsurface and serving for the supervision of attendants and conditions of machine operation. The two or more marking elements record on a common recording surface driven by clockwork. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the record a of the variable under observation is marked on a travelling strip which is provided with sections I, II, III for particular groups of attendants, in which the attendant records his presence by making a mark b2, b1 &c. in the appropriate section through a slit in the casing. In Fig. 4 is shown a record of the output of an electrical installation as made by a wattmeter and a record of the condition of running or loading of the generator in the sections of the record numbered 0 .. 5. In the form shown in Fig. 6 a record of the times of working and non-operation of a machine is made at a on a clock-driven disc and a record of the group of men on duty is made at b and a supervision record by the attendant is formed by moving the marking element across the record as shown at c. The stylus points A, B lie on a radial line over a support plate 3 and the arm of the stylus B is U-shaped and passes through a slot 4 in a disc 12. The underneath part 2b of the arm carries a pin B<1> projecting through the casing in a guide slot 6. A cam disc 7 adjustable by means of a lever 8 co-operating with a scale 9 regulates the position of the stylus B.
