Abstract

388,143. Wall ties. LEABANK MANU. FACTURING CO., Ltd., Charlton Meade Works, and KENT, F. W., The Hollies, Ware Road, both in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. Nov. 27, 1931, No. 32966. [Class 20 (iv).] In a hollow wall construction one end 6 of a tie 4 is built into the horizontal joint above an outer course 1, and the other end 7 is built into the corresponding joint of the next higher inner course 3, moisture collecting on the tie thus being caused to run towards the outer wall. Further strengthening is provided by embedding one or both ends of the central part 5 of the tie in a vertical joint, as at 9. The tie is formed by bending a single flat strip so that the central part 5 is in a vertical plane, and the end parts 6, 7 are in horizontal planes and make an angle of 45‹ with the plane of the part 5 ; the parts 6, 7 may be of equal or unequal lengths and may be bent so that the vertical planes through them are parallel, as shown, or at right-angles.
