Abstract

387,905. Warp-pile fabrics. LORTHIOIS-LEURENT ET FILS, 36, Rue du Petit Village, Tourcoing, Nord, France. June 15, 1932, No. 16907. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1931. [Class 142 (iv).] In weaving pile carpets &c. wherein the pile threads g<1> .. g<5> pass under backing wefts d<2>, d<4>, d<6>, d<8>, d<10>, d<12>, d<14>, d<16> so as to form a design on the reverse side and wherein portions of the pile warp threads not employed in the design are eliminated from the fabric, these portions are floated at the back of the fabric. After cutting the loops passing over the pile wires v<1> .. v<8> to form the pile tufts G<1> .. G<5> and brushing the back of the carpet &c., if necessary, the floated portions fall out of the fabric as shown in Fig. 3. As shown at A, Fig. 1, just before a pile warp thread g<1> is floated at the back after forming the pattern it is joined by the pile warp thread g<2> entering the pattern, both being raised over the same pile wire v<2>. Various types of binding may be used as shown by Figs. 1, 4, and 5. In a modification, a pile thread g<1>, Fig. 7, which has completed its design is separated from a pile thread g<2> commencing the design, after a pile wire v<2> has passed under both, by raising it over the next weft d<4> instead of passing it under like the thread g<2>. The subsequent elimination of the portion of the thread g<1> comprised between the pile wires v<2> and v<11> is thus facilitated. Specification 379,315 is referred to.
