Abstract

387,807. Road-traffic signals. BRAUNE, P., 31, Telford Avenue, Streatham Hill, London. Jan. 4, 1932, No. 35179/31. [Class 118 (ii).] A hollow kerb is provided interiorly with lamps which serve either for traffic control signals or for illuminating the road or for both such purposes. The kerb is formed of hollow units having a downwardly-extending skirt 1a which is spaced above the road surface to provide an opening 6 whereby the road surface is illuminated and surface water from the road passes to the inside of the kerb. A guard 13, which may be arranged above the kerb to prevent the passage of vehicles on to the pavement and to serve as a sand bin, is provided with openings 12b to allow the lamps to illuminate the pavement. The openings 12b may be provided with reflectors as shown at x. The Provisional' Specification describes also the provision of a glass conduit supported on a shelf for enclosing the cables leading to the lamps.
