Lighting, systems of. - For flood lighting the offside of the road and the road to the rear of the vehicle three or more lamps a', a<2>, a<3> are carried at a relatively wide distance apart on the vehicle x each provided with a side screen b to prevent the projection of light in a forward direction. The lamps a<2>, a<3> are fitted beneath the running board x<1> and a further lamp a may be provided at the rear of the vehicle. The lamps and screens may be mounted in a single casing mounted beneath the running board or on the roof of the vehicle. Means may be provided for switching on the side lamps when the headlights are switched off, and the rear lamp casing may have combined with it the usual regulation rear lamp, direction indicating means and other signals. An illuminated sign may be provided to give warning to the drivers of approaching or following vehicles. on switching off the headlights and switching on the side lamps.
