387,749. Neckties, and means for retaining them in position. MATHIAS, W., Troughend, Althorpe Road, St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Sept. 22, 1931, No. 26432. [Classes 43 and 141.] A necktie of the ordinary four-in-hand type but preferably with a shortened neck band is made up in the form shown in Fig. 2 and attached to a retainer for engaging the collar stud. The retainer is made of sheet material and has a body part f doubled on itself as indicated in Fig. 6 and provided with a pivot l on which is mounted a tongue a. The body part is attached to the back of the tie by means of stitching, and is provided with a catch part c for engaging the tongue, and with a slot d for engaging the stud. A finger-piece b on the tongue assists in manipulating same.
