387,272. Inking-apparatus. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK AKT.-GES. HEIDELBERG, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany. Sept. 9, 1932, No. 25154. Convention date, June 4. [Class 100 (ii).] In a platen printing-press having inkdistributing rollers which are moved to and fro over the printing-bed, the distributing-rollers are arranged so that they can be shifted independently of the spreading-rollers of the inking- mechanism, so as not to touch the surface of the inking-cylinder during their reciprocating movement, while running-in the inking mechanism. Ink is transferred to the inking-cylinder from the fountain 7 by rollers 4, which are mounted in a roller chair 19 and can be moved away, as shown in the Figure, by a hand-lever 20 and distributing-rollers 9, mounted on swinging arms 10 which oscillate about a pivot 12, transfer the ink from the cylinder 8 to the bed 2. The rollers 9, which are normally pressed against the cylinder 8 and bed 2 by springs, are provided with running rollers which engage running rails 14 arranged on both sides of the bed. At the upper end a guide rail 141 is pivotally connected with each of the rails 14 by a pin 15, and to the upper end of the rail 14<1> is attached a guiding link 16 which connects the guide rail with a hand-lever 18 rotatable about the pivot 17. In normal operation, the rollers 9 roll down upon the inking-cylinder, and during the downward swing of the arms 10 the running rollers run along the guide rails 14<1>, 14 to ink the bed 2. For running-in the inking-mechanism before printing, the hand-lever 18 is raised to rock the guide rails 141 out above the periphery of the cylinder 8 to the position shown, so that the distributing-rollers 9 not longer. contact this cylinder during their reciprocatory movement.
