Abstract
386,391. Vehicle stands and supports. DERIHON, E., 364, Rue St. Laurent, Liege, Belgium. Nov. 16, 1931, No. 31653. Convention date, Nov. 15, 1930. [Class 79 (iii).] A lifting shoe 1 provided with a curved base 3 and upper flange 2 is temporarily bolted or otherwise connected to a vehicle wheel so as to turn therewith, at the same time taking a bearing against the brake drum without being attached thereto, so that when brought into operative position it supports the weight of the vehicle through the medium of the brake drum, enabling the wheel to be removed. A tapered extension 4 with shoulders 4a is insertible into a recess 5 at either end of the base according to the direction of rotation intended. The form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 may be of cast or forged metal. The modification shown in Fig. 5 comprises a frame of iron rods or tubes with a base comprising a curved plate 3 with an integral extension 3a and a pair of transverse grooves 20 adapted to seat against rods 17, a strap 21 converting one of the grooves into socket means for pivotal suspension. A further modification made entirely of sheet metal is described. The effective height of the device may be rendered adjustable by the provision of screw studs in the flange 2 the heads of which bear against the brake drum.
