Convention date, Nov. 8, 1933. [Classes 103 (i) and 144 (i)] A railway wheel fitted with a pneumatic tyre 2 and a flanged metal rim 1 is automatically braked, on collapse of the tyre 2, by means of shoes 5 carried by a bracket 4 on the axlecasing 3. The rim 1 may be formed with flanges 1<a> engaging grooves in the tyre 2, or with side-flanges embracing the sides of the tyre.
