[Class 27.] In a coin-freed device for locking a typewriter and for releasing it for a predetermined time, a locking bar a, Fig. 2, which engages a movable element b of the machine, such as the key bar, is mounted and held by means of a pin c in a tube d bearing a roller f and slidable in a stationary tube e. The up and down movement of the bar a is controlled by an horizontally movable wedgeshaped plate i secured to a rod m which is connected to a clockwork and a coin-operated mechanism. Instead of with a wedge i, the roller f or a ball may engage with a cam, an eccentric, or with the curved arm of a lever.
