[Class 45.] A strainer for cords, wires, rods or cables used in aeroplane construc. tion comprises a hollow rod 6 which is screw-threaded externally and works in the head 7, Figs. 3 and 4, of an anchoring fork or in a nut 9, Fig. 7, secured therein. The corn &c. passes axially through the hollow rod, and a holder 4, which is slidably but not rotatably mounted between the limbs of the fork and abuts at its upper end against the lower end of the hollow rod, is secured to the lower end of the cord &c. Various forms of nuts and holders are described, the holder shown in Fig. 16, for example, comprising a flat sleeve tapering on two sides and an inner member 11 around which the cord &c. 5 is placed as shown.
