Abstract
385,670. Vacuum drying-apparatus. JONSSON, A. E., Lidingo, Sweden. Sept. 4, 1931, No. 24890. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1930. [Class 34 (ii).] Vacuum drying-apparatus having heating units in the drying receptacle has one or more chambers arranged at or near its end wall or walls communicating on the one hand with the interior of the receptacle through strainers, and, on the other hand, with the source of vacuum by a pipe or the like, the said chamber or chambers being heated by the units in the drying-receptacle, or by separate units, or by both; the conduits leading to and from the units in the receptacle may also heat the chambers. In the form illustrated in the Figure, the drying drum 1 is heated by units 7 fed, for example, with steam. The steam is introduced through the conduit 8 to the pipe 9, and carried off through the pipe 10. The vacuum conduit 11 is connected to the drum through the chamber 12, which communicates with the interior of the drum through openings 17 provided with strainers 18, which are accessible through apertures 19 normally closed by covers 20.
