[Class 29.] Absorption n machines and systems.-In refrigerating-machines comprising more than one absorber or adsorber, an adsorber which has been mainly freed of adsorbed fluid by heat and is about to be connected to the evaporator, is first connected to another adsorber which has been adsorbing vapour from the evaporator. The manual or automatic valves A<3>, A<4> , B<3>, B<4> which serve to connect adsorbers A, B to the evaporator E or condenser C, when changing connections first connect the two adsorbers together through pipes L or L<1>. The effect is that the pressure in the adsorber which has been discharging vapour into the condenser is lowered so that it is further freed of vapour, while the pressure in the adsorber which has been adsorbing fluid from the evaporator is raised so that the fluid concentration in this absorber is increased. The efficiency of the refrigerating cycle is increased by this increase in the range of the change of concentration in the adsorbers.
