[Class 37.] In a variable resistance for a liquid-level indicator of the electrical type, the cup-shaped contact tip 38, which is slidably mounted on a cranked arm 22 and is pressed against the resistance 26a by a spring 40, comprises a core 42 of conducting material such as phosphorbronze or silver-copper alloy with an outer coating or plating 44 of silver.
