Abstract

384,574. Gravity-separation apparatus. LANGEN, W., 76, Eschenbruchstrasse, Dellbr³ck, Cologne, Germany. June 8, 1932, No. 16216. [Class 46.] A rotary scraping device a for moving sediment to an outlet v at the centre of the base of a settling tank is supported by rollers c on an annular float d held centrally in the tank by ties h fixed to the edge of the tank. The rollers c are driven by reducing gear f from a motor g on the frame of the scraping device. A frame o which supports the inlet pipe is pivoted at its inner end on the cover m of a central inlet cylinder k and supported at the outer end by a roller bearing q. The frame o also carries a pipe r through which water can be supplied to or discharged from the float d for the purpose of regulating its height relatively to the liquid level. In a modification the scraping device is provided with hollow floats which assist in its support, the outlet pipe for the sediment passes upward at the centre, and separate floats are provided to support the inner end of the frame o.
