Abstract

384,356. Road-vehicle opening tops. AUSTIN, SIR H., Lickey Grange, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Aug. 15, 1931, No. 23029. [Class 108 (i).] In sliding panels for the roofs of road vehicles the sliding panel is adapted to be manipulated by a lever on the panel co-operating with an arm secured to the body of the vehicle and the panel is adapted to be held in closed position by co-operating ledges on the panel and body respectively and also if desired by a spring plunger. The panel B is provided with a ledge b which is adapted to overlap, when in the closed position, a ledge a on the body. A bracket C on the panel B has mounted thereon, by means of lugs d, d<1>, a lever E of the shape shown, the lever E being adapted to co-operate with an arm G extending rearwardly and upwardly. In operation depression of the lever E elevates the front of the panel, the arm G acting as a fulcrum for the lever and the panel can then be withdrawn by the lever E. A spring plunger H mounted on the lug d<1> is adapted to enter an aperture g<1> when the panel is closed in order to lock it securely.
