Abstract

383,909. Mercury-vapour rectifiers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 20, 1932, No. 17441. Convention date, June 20, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] In a rectifier having a metallic cathode vessel 4 sealed to a metallic casing 1, an insulating ring 11 which protects the seal 3 is forced against a removable screen 12 by means of compression springs 16. The springs are housed within caps 17 and are contained in recesses in the cathode vessel. Movement of the caps within the recesses is limited by stops 25. The ring 11 is axially registered by means of leaf springs 22 bearing against the side of the ring. These springs are mounted on members 21 which slide radially within grooves in the caps and are secured after the ring has been mounted in position by bending their ends over the edges of the caps or over members crossing the grooves. The screen 12 is spaced from the casing by members 13 having holes through which the condensate returns to the cathode.
