Abstract

383,443. Containers for electric lamps. HENDRY, J., Eaglesham, Front Lane, Cranham, Upminster, Essex. Dec. 7, 1931, No. 33881. [Class 18.] A container for electric lamps of the type consisting of a collapsable cardboard &c. body of prismatic shape with two or more resilient tongues extending inwardly from the corner adjacent one end to support and centre the lamp bulb, each tongue being made from parts of adjoining sides or from extensions of two adjoining sides and having also means for supporting and centring the lamp cap, has the cap-centring means constituted by a cardboard &c. member which supports the cap below the level of the box end, means being provided to close the box end. The container may be formed from a blank as shown in Fig. 7, the supporting tongues 1 being formed by slits 9 and creases 10 and the cap support by a dished end 7b, flaps 5, 6 with auxiliary flaps 2a, 2b, 4a, 4b closing the ends. The hole 7d for the cap is of elongated shape to take the pins of the cap which is then rotated. The cap support may be formed separately. An alternative form of blank is shown in Fig. 14, where the bulb-supporting tongues are formed by flaps 30 on flaps 35 which are folded upwards to lie against the side walls. A separate bottom may be attached to the container. The bulbsupporting formation of the lower part of this container may be embodied as a separate insert for a container of ordinary construction, to make it the equivalent of the container formed from the blank, Fig. 14.
