Abstract

Natural silk threads or knitted or woven articles made therefrom are coated with rubber latex, whereby defects such as laddering are counteracted. The latex used may contain an excess of ammonia, and may be vulcanized on the silk, a vulcanizing agent being added to the latex if desired; alternatively, vulcanized latex may be used directly. The latex may be applied by dipping or spraying, after dyeing if desired. The Provisional Specification refers to the treatment of artificial silk. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 346,511 and 348,589.
