383,135. Printing-machines. MENAGLIA, M., 30, Via Sicilia, Rome. Feb. 25, 1932, No. 5661. [Class 100 (ii).] Rotary machines ; inking-apparatus.-A machine for printing on cigarette paper comprises an intaglio printing-roller 2, Fig. 1, and an inking-roller 3 of larger diameter than the printing-roller and driven at low speed independently thereof, and arranged so that it just grazes the surface of the printing-roller. The parts are mounted on a vertical support 1, and include also an impression roller 6, an ink trough 16, a scraper 27 for the printing-roller, and paper-ribbon guides and rollers 9, 8, 4<1>, 6<1>. The spindle 19, Fig. 2, of the inking-roller rests in open bearings in the sides of the ink trough and is coupled to a driving-shaft 20. The scraper 27 is pressed against the printing- roller by means of a spring 26 attached to an arm 25, and is reciprocated longitudinally by means of a cam against the action of a return spring. Printing-surfaces.-The printing-roller is preferably made of hard steel and is mounted on an internally-threaded sleeve 11, Fig. 2, for axial adjustment on a shaft 10, from which the roller is driven through interengaging projections 13, 14.
