Abstract

382,334. Flexible tube couplings. PAULIN, J. G., 89, Skaldevagen, Nockeby, Sweden. Aug. 1, 1931, No. 22009. [Class 99 (i).] A device for connecting a tooth-cleaning apparatus to a water-supply tap, which allows water to be drawn directly from the tap without removing the device, comprises a body 1, Fig. 1, provided with a central bore 3 the outlet of which may be closed by a lid 8, the bore 3 communicating through a lateral bore 4 with a nipple 13 to which is attached a flexible pipe 14 connected to the mouthpiece of the cleaning apparatus. The body 1 is clamped to the tap 2 by screws 6 passing through lugs 7 on the top of the body 1. The lid 8 is carried by a bail 10 pivoted to a second bail 11 mounted on pins 12 on the body. When water is to be drawn directly from the tap, a valve on the mouthpiece is closed and the lid 8 is opened, the valve being opened and the lid closed when the teeth are to be flushed. In a modification, the bore 4 is dispensed with, the nipple 13 being disposed on the lid 8. In a further modification, the lid 8 is replaced by a tap 15, Fig. 4, and the clamping-device comprises a member 16 provided with a screw 17 engaging the top of the tap, one end of the member 16 passing through a slot 18 in a lug 19 and the other end being provided with projections adapted to be engaged by the hook-like end of two lugs 20, the lugs 19, 20 being carried by the body 1.
