Abstract

A wound mass C of yarn is multi-colour dyed by evenly p compressing an extended portion of the yarn and simultaneously injecting dye therein. The yarn C on a holder W4 is reciprocated towards and away from a pump P, and is evenly compressed by the surface A1 of the presser A. The pump then makes one compression stroke which forces dyes of different colours through a series of passages A3 and bores A2 with nozzles A4. Additional compression is secured by providing transverse ridges on the pressure surface A1, between the sets of nozzles A4 which communicate with the different pump cylinders.
