Cops, treating; cops. - Cop tubes a are perforated after being wound by points 83, 84 on levers 77, 78 working in slots 81, 82 in a mandrel 63, the levers being forced outwards by conical surfaces 78, 74 on a plunger 70 connected to a piston-rod 69 driven by a piston 68. Compressed air, admitted by a disc valve under the control of a handle 91<1>, is employed to propel the piston. The return of the plunger withdraws the points by the engagement of the parts 71, 72 with the heels of the levers, thus allowing the cop to be withdrawn. The plunger 70 is adjustably. mounted on the rod 69 but is prevented from rotating by a key 76. Dye dropped on the surface of the cop by nozzles is sucked in direct lines through the yarn, so that the cop is dyed in circular sections extending from the centre to the surface.
