381,480. Metal beams. LEE, D. H., 46, Eagle Wharf Road, London. March 21, 1932, No. 8335. [Class 20 (iv).] Metal beams with non-corrugated web are formed with one flange 1 wide and thin and the other flange 2 narrow and thick, the areas of the two flanges being approximately equal and the centre of gravity near to the half depth. The flanges may be tapered or of uniform thickness, and the flange 2 may project unequally from the sides of the web. The beams may be inverted for use in floors, in which case the narrow flange being uppermost facilitates the application of concrete or the insertion of hollow tiles.
